This blog will be moving soon…

9 Feb

…to WordPress!

You read correctly folks! We’ve sort of outgrown our little space here and will be moving onto bigger and better things.

So as of now, no new posts for the next few days while we work to move our content to our new space.

Once everything is beautiful and ready for you, we’ll post the link so you can come over and hang out.

Until then…

It’s Okay Thursday

9 Feb

Linking up with Amber at Brunch With Amber for It’s Okay Thursday

It’s Okay…

…that seeing a man riding a unicycle at night while wearing at miner’s headlamp hat isn’t quite as shocking as it might have been a few months ago but it’s still pretty darn amusing – ah #cityliving

…that I prefer to buy underwear with fun patterns on them because 1) that’s just plain cool and 2) it’s harder to accidently put them on inside out…like I did earlier this week…dumb nude panties!

…that I am obsessed with BonLook’s selection of eyewear esp. those pictured below. Sadly, I think I would look too dorky. Ah well. P.S. Finally got my eye appt. scheduled+confirmed for Feb. 18th hurray!

…that I could eat cheese ravioli + sauce every day – so delicious!

…that I spent 2.5 hrs working by myself on a room set-up for an event, told by my boss it looked fabulous. Yet a half hour before guests were to arrive the hosts of the event came in, said they space was not what they expected or wanted, and started tearing it down +  having us move everything. Silly, but customer’s always right, right? err, wrong. ha! But seriously, whatever makes them happy + gets me paid I’m down for! How’s that for some positivity. :)

…that my blog yells at me for posting comments too fast. yes, that’s right. it’s hilarious but true. apparently my blog is the ultimate pokey-slow. and for the record, it was only 2 comments in the span of 15mins… oh my poor poor blog….

…that I haven’t painted my nails in months

…that I’m still all giddy about my new jeans

…to be super excited to reveal Mr.C’s birthday gift to him, it’s been tough keeping it a secret from him (we are both horrible secret keepers) but I think he’s going to really love it!

So,

What are you okay with today?

xo, Meg

Bloggers Worst Dressed

8 Feb

*****READ FIRST: Thanks for stopping by! We’ve moved to wordpress so please visit this exact same post over there instead. Thanks you so much!  http://mrcandmeblog.wordpress.com/2012/02/08/bloggers-worst-dressed/

Visit It's Blogworthy for your daily ridiculous.

I was directed to this fabulous link-up by Lauren over at Crazy Ever After.

I love the idea of this because I too follow a zillion blogs that are filled with cute posts about fashion & daily outfits photos.

And while I enjoy daydreaming about wearing that adorable dress, with that neat necklace, colored + patterned tights, Blowfish heels, and perfectly coiffed hair – that’s just not me.

I’m more of a jump in the shower, let my hair air dry, wear flip flops ’til it snows kinda girl.

I’ll be the chick over there wearing the jeans, same t-shirts from high school, a zip up hoodie with fraying cuffs or a broken zipper, and converse knockoffs.

What I mean to say is that while I will continue to enjoy those perfectly planned outfits that pop up in my Google Reader, it is high time to showcase some real people, wearing real clothes…looking.. really good?

Mmm..granted that last bit is debatable!

But you have to admit – it sure does make for a fun contest!

So, without further ado, here is my submission:

Ohhhh yeahhh!

This is classic Megan weekend-wear.

Shirt: T-shirt from my high school Pep Band days. Band nerds unite!! It’s much too small & covered with dirt and paint from some summer project.

Pants: Pajama pants from Goodwill. Capri style & starting to get too tight around the waist but too adorable to discard – who can resist polka dots?!

Socks: kneesocks. old, discolored, had ‘em forever.

Flip Flops: Old Navy (they have the best flip flops & always on sale!).

And yes, I am wearing socks and flip flops together. The horrors. It was cold, what else could I do? Ha!

Oh and I was dancing my little behind off if you couldn’t tell. Dance party yah’ll!

So there you have it! This blogger’s worst dressed photo!

And for your continued amusement, here were the two runner-up outfits, enjoy!

*If you enjoyed this post and want to join in the fun head over to It’s Blogworthy and get your worst-dressed on!

Flashback Tuesday

7 Feb

Mary in Marriedland

After seeing this link-up over at The Blog Tap, I had to hop over to Mary in Marriedland, the creator of Flashback Tuesday, to check it out! After seeing a ton of cute photos of everyone when they were little + hearing the sweet, and often funny, stories behind them I decided to jump on board.

Sadly all my really adorable baby/little kid photos are at my Mama’s house so I had to choose from the few, awkward junior-high photos that somehow made their way on to facebook…ha! enjoy…

Enter, Megan in all her 7th grade glory!

A few things about this photo:

1. It was taken at Camp Far Horizons (lovingly referred to as Camp Far Ho!) in Hanover, IL.

It is mainly a Girl Scout Camp but is also available for outside weekend rentals which is what my youth group often did for our annual fall retreat. My youth group memories will always have a special place in my heart – our leaders were amazing, we always did the best activities, I met a ton of great people + made many new friends, and it gave me a chance to hang out with my friend C. more.

You may remember C. since he officiated our wedding. Well we’ve been BFFs since preschool and he was the one who actually invited me to his youth group/church in the first place. I loved it from the start and ended up being involved for 6+ years. It was a wonderful experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything!

2. The volleyball that is in the picture is held by my dear friend, M., who is probably trying to kill me.

Just kidding! M. is great, we became friends junior high but definitely got closer as the years went on, he was even a part of our wedding! But we always joke that we have a love/hate relationship and which might be true given the fact that we trade the phrase “I’ll kill you!” almost as often was we say “I love you”. Anyway, after this photo was unearthed we decided that it was probably the first proof we have of M.’s murderous feelings about me. Ha! Love you M. P.S. M has the best evil stare, you should have him do it for you sometime!

3. Yes, I’m wearing braces.

But honestly, who wasn’t? I swear everyone I knew had them. Sadly, I also had to wear headgear when I slept too but thankfully that was just for a few months. Anyway, I only wore braces for a few years and I didn’t really mind. I liked getting them tightened (sadistic much?!) & the only part I absolutely despised was when they would shove my mouth full of dental clay to make a mold for a new retainer. Yeah, like I can stay calm while I’m being suffocated by ball of silly putty! Silly dental assistant…

4. Yes, my eyebrows are drawn on.

Okay, you got me! In addition to braces I also spent a good year or so growing my eyebrows back in and while that painful process went down, I decided it’d be in my best interest to draw/paint them in. I had a very prominent unibrow and had someone just told me to wax or tweeze it this whole thing probably would have ended up a lot differently.

But no, I did not have the proper tools or materials so I turned to the only thing I did have… a razor. So I cleaned up the unibrow – it looked good – I was proud. And that’s when it happened. Hey, I thought, if I can do that, I can clean up the ends of my brows too…errr not so much. I ended up shaving most of them off. Oops. Yeah, my eyebrows looked awful, they were about 2in long and I spent the rest of 7th grade and a good chunk of 8th penciling them in….with a Crayola colored pencil dipped in water…yeah I didn’t even have a real eyebrow pencil lol epic fail.

But you have to admit – I did a pretty good job – they’re almost even! :)

Well, I’ve had a blast sharing memories on this Flashback Tuesday!

If you decide to link up please leave a comment+link below as I would love to read it! And if you don’t blog, no worries, feel free to share a childhood story below if you want. We don’t discriminate!

Besides who doesn’t love to take a second and remember the good old days?

I know Mr.C does…isn’t he cute? hehehe

Happy Tuesday everyone!

xo, Meg

Dear Monday

6 Feb

As always, I’m linking up with Happy Day for Dear Monday.

Dear Monday, so not ready for you yet, but will ultimately pull it together and. as Tim Gunn would say, “Make it work!”

Dear Superbowl Party, you were a blast. After days of work, home, sleep, work, home, sleep, spending a day with old friends + new ones was a welcoming breath of fresh air. Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and it felt good.

Dear Superbowl Party: A disclaimer, you make me giggle… because although I know the Giants won and that I was throughly amused by the final touch down (you can watch it below – the man sits down hahaha) – I can honestly tell you nothing about the rest of the game. Spent too much time snacking & being a Chatty Cathy. Attendance at a Superbowl Party implies that I cared about the game…newsflash: I did not. What I do care about is yummy brown sugar apple dip + turkey sandwiches + fresh silk pie + cupcakes and a good round or two of the drinking game Circle of Death especially when 1) you’re the sober one & you still have fun and 2) it turns into less of a game and more of an information/secrets gathering session with the main goal being to get some good dirt for future use & destruction against dear friends

Dear Clean House, I am in complete awe of you and must must must strive to keep you like this for as long as possible. You make me feel more put together and I like that.

Dear Glasses/Contacts appointment, %&grrrr$*angry#!@ is how I feel about you. Yah’ll have horrible customer service and I secretly wish our eye insurance allowed us to go to Walmart or Target optical instead of some fancypants place that can’t fit you in for 3 weeks and has yet to confirm my appointment. And yes, I’ve called + emailed over there already today. Lets just say they better get back to me asap or else…

Dear Kohls, you rock! Popped in on a whim after my favorite pair of jeans ripped in the crotch (aren’t those the worst!) and voila you happened to have jeans marked 70% off. For less than $30 I was able to get 3 pairs: 2 regular + 1 skinny. And the best part?! They actually fit!! None of this super curvy hippy nonsense or fits at the waist but are so long you could wear stilts under them BS. Nope, honest to goodness, jeans that fit right in waist & don’t automatically assume I have a huge booty/thighs just because I need a larger waist size or that I am a giraffe who needs an extra 2ft of length. Thank you Jean Gods – you made my day!

Dear Virtual Sticky Notes, you have been unveiling your wisdom ever since my computer’s been fixed. Along with to-do lists, important contact info, and a tv schedule, you boast a lot of quotes + words I was drawn to in the past. Some are more recent finds with others being a year or so old. The gem of today?

“Because that’s what this marriage business is really about right? Choosing your partner in a million little ways (and a few big ones) day after day”

Dear New Music Monday, hello old friend! I’m excited for this feature today because I truly have a song that is new to me too. Somedays I might pull my old favorites – though possibly new to you – from my iTunes but not today. My friend Kt introduced to me the following song + band and I fell instantly in love. Obsessed even. The song has become best friends with the repeat button and my calendar is marked on April 3 for their debut album’s release. Can’t wait!

Ho Hey by The Lumineers

Have a good Monday everyone!

xo, Meg
